An incomplete post-Medieval cast copper-alloy double-looped sword-belt hanger (c. 1500-c. 1630).
The majority of one loop is missing due to old breaks.
The surviving loop is sub-oval in plan with a pointed outer edge, is convex at the front and the outer edge is bevelled at the rear. It has a bar, sub-triangular in cross-section, flat at the rear. At one end of the bar there is an integral circular suspension loop turned through 90°.
Height: 37.6mm; width: 28.6mm; thickness: 2.2mm; thickness including loop: 10.9mm. Weight: 4.87g.
Similar published examples have been dated c. 1500-c. 1630 and were probably used as sword-belt hangers (Whitehead 2003: 72, refs: 450 and 451).
