Incomplete cast copper alloy Post Medieval hooked tag, The tag has an oval convex body, moulded and convex at the front with a hollow back. At one end the axial hook or eye is missing from an old break, with the original attachment point flanked by semi-circular tabs pierced with circular holes. There is a similar tab positioned axially at the opposite end of the body. The front face of the body is decorated with a fleur de lis or floral decoration the central projecting leaf of which is flanked by annulets. The front face retains some evidence of a surface finish, probably tinning. A similar example is shown in Read, B Hooked Clasps and Eyes; p169; No.630/631 which is dated to the 16th-17th century. Dimensions; length 32.0mm, width 16.79mm, thickness 4mm, weight 4.7g.
