An incomplete post-medieval lead-alloy cloth seal of early 18th-century date. A disc survives, slightly damaged, from what was probably a four-disc seal from the series featuring a monarch's head. As Egan (1994, 60) states, the relief designs on these alnage seals are characterised by fine detail resulting from well-engraved dies. The disc bears a female bust facing left, that of Queen Anne (AD 1702-1714). The bust is surrounded by a border of short raised transverse lines and the legend ANNA REGINA. There is evidence for a loop at one point at right angles to the bust. The cloth seal has been bent as a result of old damage. Contemporary cloth seals can be found in Egan 1994 (65; nos. 146-148).
It measures 16.9mm by 15.3mm by 0.9mm thick and weighs 1.49g.
