A post-Medieval copper-alloy strap mount.
The head of the mount is 'bow shaped', a central band of three transverse ridges and interspersing grooves separating two truncated-oval sides. The upper surface of the mount is convex and the underside is flat. From either end of the reverse springs a rectangular-sectioned rivet which tapers to a point and has been bent inwards to form a right-angle.
Length: 23.3mm; width: 8.3mm. Weight: 4.5g.
Similar mounts are illustrated by Brian Read, who suggests a 17th century date (2001: 28/fig. 21, nos. 310 and 314).
