Fragment of a copper alloy brooch dating to the Roman period. The fragment is of a Colchester or Colchester derivative and comprises of the catchplate and part of the bow only. The rest of the bow, head, mechanism and pin have been lost to old breaks. The catchplate extends from the bow to form a triangular plate which curves at the outer edge, acting as a pin rest. The catchplate has openwork decoration in the form of three circular holes, two now filled with sediment.

The fragment measures 30.4mm in length, 13.9mm in width, 4.2mm in thickness and weighs 4.4g.
