A complete, cast lead spindle whorl of probable Medieval date. It is biconical in shape, with a circular perforation in the centre. The whorl has been miscast, with a leak in the mould resulting in the lead from one side forming as blobs on the other. One of these blobs detached from the whorl as the artefact was being recovered and this blob has been weighed with the rest of the artefact. The whorl has moulded decoration on both sides, consisting of triangles based on the whorl centre with their apex at the central piercing, each triangle contains a single pellet, with another pellet between triangles. The whorl has a cream patina.
The whorl (ignoring miscast spillage) is 28.2mm in diameter and 14.1mm tall. It weighs 41.1g.
The perforation is 10.6mm at it widest.
