A copper alloy buckle plate, probably of Roman date. The buckle plate is slender at 9mm and is 46mm long and has a long pin slot. The folded over lower plate is held in place by a single rivet and only extends half the length of the top plate. The top plate is decorated with two groups of punched feather-like chevrons; the two groups are separated by a group of eight narrow transverse grooves.
