An incomplete, cast copper alloy, Roman brooch. This is a Dolphin type brooch with hinge mechansim. The fragment consists of the bow and the head. The brooch is hevaily corroded but there are faint remains of decorative ribs around the head, either side of the bow. The head is cylindrical with a central recess where the pin was attached to the axle bar, which is still present in the central peircing.

The brooch has a mid green patina. At the end of each arm is a red brown deposit from the axle bar.

The remains weigh 12.7g. the head is 41mm wide, but given the uneven length of both sides the brooch was probably wider origianlly. The remains are approxaimetaely 31mm long. The base of the bow is 10.7mm wide where it meats the head. The head is 7.0mm in diameter where it meets the bow, and tapers slightly towards the ends.
