A copper alloy Post Medieval candlestick dating from the 16th century. Only the socket and stem survive, the separate base being absent. The socket is slightly flared, wider at the top, and is 23.1mm diameter, 19.85mm internal diameter. It has two slots or rectangular openings in the sides, and the rim is missing. The surviving depth of the socket is 15.2mm deep. The stem is 11mm diameter and 54mm long. It has a projecting flange in the middle (17mm diameter) and another at the base. The bottom of the shaft has a short projection (12.3mm diameter, 5mm long) which would have fitted into the base. The candle holder has a green patina. Compare figures 9-12 in Bronsword (1985), English Latten Domestic Candlesticks 1400 - 1700, Finds Research Group Datasheet number 1 and LVPL-417C75 for another example with openings in the socket. The candle stick is 87.8mm long, 23.1mm diameter and weighs 85.38g.
