A copper-alloy loop from an early post-Medieval purse frame.
The ring-shaped loop is of oval section and heavily worn at its apex. A circular-sectioned arm projects downwards from the base, its worn underside retaining no trace of the spigot which would have fitted within the purse bar's block.
Width: 27.1mm; height: 27.9mm; thickness: 7.5mm. Weight: 8.39g.
Circular loops are usually associated with London Museum Type B3 purse frames (see Ward Perkins 1967: fig. 52). Such purses probably date from the first half of the 16th century (ibid. 167).
