A copper-alloy double-loop buckle, dating from the Medieval topost-Medieval periods.
The symmetrical frame comprises two sub-oval sides, each of flat section and with a toothed outer edge. A piece of iron corrosion adhering to the central axis bar represents the remains of the pin.
Length: 21mm; width: 14.6mm; thickness (frame): 1.4mm. Weight: 1.23g.
Similar buckles are illustrated by Ross Whitehead, who suggests they date from the mid 15th to 16th century (1996: 60).
