An incomplete rectangular copper-alloy strap end of Medieval date. Only one half survives, the remainder of the object is missing due to old breaks, now worn.
It is formed from a single flat sheet of copper-alloy which would have been folded widthways at the base to create a strap end with rectangular plates of equal length. The attachment end contains a separate copper-alloy circular rivet with a flattened round head. Canvas fibres from the strap still remain on the back of the plate.
This strap end measures 24.15mm in length, 14.68mm in width, 3.19mm in thickness, 2.38g in weight.
There is a similar example from London (Egan and Pritchard, 1991, pp. 127, no. 578).
