Description: Two cast silver cufflinks elements dating to the Post Medieval period (17th Century) and found in the same field. The discs are circular in plan with down turned edges. One element has suffered damage to the end resulting in a loss of c. 25% of the circumference due to an old break. The upper surface of both elements are decorated with a flaming heart design, bisected with two arrows (Lewis form 1 type B). The backgrounds have a stippled effect. The reverse of the discs each bear a 'D' shaped silver wire attachment loop.

Dimensions: Element 1 (complete): 14.2mm in diameter, 4.5mm in thickness (2.4mm excluding loop), 0.82g in weight. Element 2 (broken): 14.2mm in diameter, 4.5mm in thickness (2.4mm excluding loop), 0.71g in weight

Discussion: The objects contain a minimum of 10% precious metal and are over 300 years old. Consequently they qualify as Treasure under the stipulations of the Treasure Act 1996 in terms of both age and precious metal content.
