A complete copper alloy strap fitting of Roman date. The fitting is comprised of a heart-shaped plate with rounded knop at the pointed end. A rectangular shaft extends from between the upper lobes and widens into a rectangular attachment loop decorated with transverse grooves. The reverse is flat and undecorated except for the broken and worn remains of a circular sectioned shaft extending from the centre of the heart-shaped element.
The metal has a mid green patina and is worn. The fitting is 35.7mm long, 19.9mm wide, 2.7mm thick (5.5mm with projections) and weighs 6.8g.
