BUCKLE

Unique ID: BUC-71D3E3

Object type certainty: Certain
Workflow status: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation

An incomplete and distorted copper-alloy frame from a medieval single-loop buckle.

The frame comprises a strip of flat section which narrows towards the inner side, where it terminates in two opposing axis bar cylinders. The axis bar is largely missing, but iron corrosion on both cylinders attests to its former composition. Longitudinal lines of rocker-arm grooves decorate the outer face of the frame.

Class: Single-loop
