A copper-alloy single-loop buckle of medieval date.
The frame is D-shaped in plan, has sloping upper surfaces, a flat underside and an offset axis bar. The two tabs linking the rectangular front plate and incomplete back plate have been folded around this bar. Two copper-alloy rivets, located at the corners at the frame end of the plate, join together the upper and lower plates, with two empty rivet holes at the opposite end of the upper plate. The now-missing pin would originally have been looped around the axis bar via the space between the two aforementioned plate tabs.
