A small cast copper alloy gilded mount in the form of a dog (or lion), naturalistically rendered, standing on a pedestal. The dog faces left with the head turned to face the viewer. The right legs are arranged in front of the left, leaving a hole between, and the tail is curled between the dog's legs and over its back. The ears are downturned and curly hair covers the chest. The dog stands on a splayed plain pedestal base. The back of the mount is flat save for a large rounded tab which projects at right-angles from just below the line of the dog's back.

This mount is likely to date within the period 1450-1650 but its precise purpose is unclear.
