Post Medieval cast lead tin alloy (pewter) button with integral shank which is now squashed flat. The button is circular with a break along one side removing 15% of the circumference. It has a domed front and concave back. The front is decorated with a raised design of a six bladed impeller (propeller) with curved arms radiating out from a central pellet within a cabled border at the edge. The arms are double lines with diagonal line infilling and the central pellet is now a raised dot. The back has a flattened rim and a slightly off centre raised casting line running across it with the now flatterned shank and loop in the center. It measures 18.1mm by 15.1mm and 2.9 mm in thickness excluding the remains of the loop, 4.5m including it, and weighs 3.48 g.

Read (2005:66-67) illustrates a range of similar lead alloy examples including one with a flat front with a similar impeller design. no. 256, which he dates to the 17th century.
