A complete, Post Medieval (Tudor), struck or hammered silver alloy, Elizabeth I (1558-1603) Penny with beaded inner circle. Obverse: Crowned bust right. Inscription: EDG[ROSA.SI](NE) SPINA. Reverse: Square shield on long cross fourchee dividing the legend. Inscription: [CIV]ITAS.LON(DON). Mint name: London. Die axis: 6 o'clock. Slightly worn or very fine condition but clipped and chipped flan edges. The upper part of the legend on the obverse and the lower part on the reverse appears rather weakly struck. Otherwise attractive silver colour with light tarnish but a rusty brown stain especially on the reverse. This coin is likely to date to 1558-1602. Ref.
