An incomplete copper alloy Trumpet brooch of Roman date. The head, pin mechanism and pin no longer remain. A section of circular sectioned upper bow is present which extends to a worn acanthus decoration before continuing to form the D-shaped sectioned lower bow.
The metal has a mid brown patina and is very worn. The brooch is 26.2mm long, 5.9mm wide, 5.8mm thick and weighs 2.3g.
Similar examples are illustrated in Hattatt, p.327, fig.186 and are dated to circa AD 75 - 175.
