A copper alloy English jetton dating to the period AD c1280-1340. The jetton is a double reverse Berry Type 14. On both sides, there is a short cross moline with pellets in each quarters and a border of pellets between two lines of small pellets (it may have been pierced through the centre). Cf Mernick, P and Algar, D in Saunders, P (ed), 2001, Salisbury & South Wiltshire Museum Medieval Catalogue Part 3, Salisbury and South Wiltshire Museum, Salisbury p 222 no 37 and p 254, fig 82, no 37.
Notes:
"The short cross moline is the most commonly found reverse from the period AD 1290-1320, with many minor die variations known. Jettons struck with two reverse dies are not uncommon and may have been 'budget' productions." (Saunders et al, 2001, p222 - ibid)
