A cast copper alloy probable Medieval casket or box mount dating from about AD 1200 - 1300. The mount the terminal of a slender rectangle with a moulded rounded terminal. There is an iron rivet through the terminal, and a projecting hook extends downwards and bends forwards. The body of the mount is semi-circular in section, convex on the front and flat on the back. The broken end of the mount has been sheared off at an angle part of the way through, and then snapped leaving a rough, but patinated surface. The end of the hook is also broken off. The patina is a rich brown colour, and the surface is pitted.
