An incomplete silver-gilt dress-hook . The object is lozenge shaped in plan. It consists of a cast back-plate with a large trefoil knop on each apex and a smaller version in the centre of each side. The trefoil knop from the centre of one side is missing due to a recent break. Either side of each central trefoil knop is a single rounded knop; some of these have a faceted outer face while some have been worn down. In the centre of the plate is a circular perforation with an internal diameter of 3.03mm. Surrounding the perforation the outer face of the back plate is uneven with shallow grooves forming small squares.
The rearward facing hook is incomplete due to a recent break. It is circular in cross-section at the break but expands and flattens behind the plate where it is soldered on. The separate soldiered loop is missing and two rectangular scars remain on the rear of the object where the loop would have attached.
The hollow domed sheeting obverse plate is missing. The object shows signs of recent damage and file marks are visible on the rear of the back plate where the gilding has worn off.
