A rim sherd from a medieval domestic vessel, possibly made in Northamptonshire (Maureen Mellor pers. comm.). The fabric is shelly and gritty and covered with holes which are caused by leaching during the firing process. The outer surface if a buff colour while internally the fabric is black. The rim is rounded and slightly projecting. These vessels were in common everyday use and date anywhere from c. AD 1180-1400.
