Copper alloy post-medieval double-loop frame buckle, probably from a shoe. The buckle frame is drilled on each side of the frame across the centre to take a seperate pin or spindle. The front of the frame is decorated with a pair of indented lines in the centre of each edge. On the back of the buckle there is a loop chape with a single spike which has corroded onto the frame. The buckle is of Chris Marshall's type V and dates to c.1660-1720. The buckle measures 24mm in length and 18mm in width and weighs 3.89g.
