A complete copper-alloy sheet metal rivet, of the type usually used for repairing metal vessels. The rivet is formed from a kite shaped piece of sheet metal, rolled into a cone, with the top folded over to form the head. The rivet is sharply pointed and bent at the tapered end.

A discussion of these rivets can be found in Egan (2005, p.101). Egan suggests that these were a later form a rivet, which took over from the Medieval folded staples in the late 15th to the mid to late 16th century and continued in use into the 18th century (ibid.).
