DEBITAGE

A group of 27 struck flint flakes. They have a combined total weight of 145.60g and are of later Prehistoric date, c.4000-1 BC.

1) An unpatinated squat flake struck from a grey flint, with small bulb of percussion and striking platform. Cortex remains on half of the dorsal face, which has limited flake removal and limited semi-abrupt retouch at the proximal end. It measures 45.97mm in length, 45.22mm in width, 13.17mm in thickness, and 27.92g in weight.

2) An unpatinated squat flake struck from a pale brown flint, with prominent striking platform and small bulb of percussion. Half of the dorsal face retains its cortex. It measures 30.55mm in length, 31.03mm in width, 11.05mm in thickness, and 9.99g in weight.

3) An unpatinated short flake struck from a mottled grey flint. It has a prominent striking platform small bulb of percussion and hinge fracture at the distal end. This flake measures 31.25mm in length, 23.74mm in width, 7.76mm in thickness, and 5.89g in weight.

4) An unpatinated long flake or blade struck from a grey flint. It is snapped at the proximal end and has limited flake removal on the dorsal face, with areas of limited semi-abrupt and scaled retouch at the distal end and both edges. This flake measures 32.68m in length, 16.12mm in width, 4.94mm in thickness, and 2.70g in weight.

5) An unpatinated short flake struck from a dark grey flint. It has a prominent striking platform and bulb of percussion, snapped at the distal end and with parallel flake scars on the dorsal face. This flake measures 27.85mm in length, 25.16mm in width, 6.17mm in thickness, and 5.22g in weight.

6) An unpatinated short flake struck from a grey/brown flint. It has a prominent striking platform and bulb of percussion, hinge fracture at the distal end, and cortex remaining on two thirds of the dorsal face. One side has limited short, semi-abrupt and scaled retouch, perhaps for use as a simple scraper. It measures 33.87mm in length, 22.49mm in width, 5.54mm in thickness, and 5.59g in weight.

7) An unpatinated short flake struck from a pale grey flint. It has a prominent striking platform and bulb of percussion, with limited flake scars on the dorsal face. This flake measures 28.11mm in length, 21.00mm in width, 7.27mm in thickness, and 3.33g in weight.

8) An unpatinated short flake struck from a dark grey flint. It has a prominent striking platform and bhulb of percussion, with parallel flake scars on the dorsal face. This flake measures 27.41mm in length, 19.28mm in width, 6.68mm in thickness, and 3.07g in weight.

9) An unpatinated short flake struck from a mottled grey flint. It has a small striking platform and bulb of percussion, with parallel flake scars on the dorsal face. This flake measures 25.84mm in length, 18.68mm in width, 5.38mm in thickness, and 2.01g in weight.

10) An unpatinated short flake struck from a grey flint. It has a small striking platform and bulb of percussion, with parallel flake scars on the dorsal face. This flake measures 23.24mm in length, 13.91mm in width, 6.19mm in thickness, and 1.88g in weight.

11) An unpatinated short flake struck from a grey flint. It has a prominent striking platform and small bulb of percussion, with parallel flake scars on the dorsal face, cortex remaining at the distal end. This flake measures 29.97mm in length, 27.53mm in width, 9.64mm in thickness, and 7.83g in weight.

It has a prominent striking platform and small bulb of percussion, with parallel flake scars on the dorsal face and possible crude semi-abrupt and scaled retouch on one edge. This flake measures 29.68mm in length, 23.25mm in width, 8.02mm in thickness, and 5.31g in weight.

18) An unpatinated short flake struck from a grey/brown flint. It has a small striking platform and bulb of percussion, with parallel flake scars on the dorsal face and cortex remaining at the distal end. One edge has a notch with short, semi-abrupt and scaled retouch. This flake measures 32.38mm in length, 20.16mm in width, 7.06mm in thickness, and 4.57g in weight.

19) An unpatinated short flake struck from a grey/brown flint. It has a small striking platform and bulb of percussion, with parallel flake scars on the dorsal face and cortex remaining at the distal end. This flake measures 46.77mm in length, 27.30mm in width, 6.69mm in thickness, and 9.11g in weight.

20) An unpatinated long flake struck from a mottled grey flint. It has a small striking platform and bulb of percussion, with parallel flake scars on the dorsal face. This flake measures 35.51mm in length, 14.51mm in width, 4.94mm in thickness, and 2.36g in weight.

21) An unpatinated long flake struck from a mottled grey flint. It has a small striking platform and bulb of percussion, with parallel flake scars on the dorsal face. This flake measures 31.31mm in length, 13.68mm in width, 3.79mm in thickness, and 1.41g in weight.

25) An unpatinated short flake struck from a pale grey/brown flint. It has a small striking platform and bulb of percussion, with limited flake scars on the dorsal face. The distal end and both sides have short abrupt and scaled retouch, possibly suggesting use as a small scraper. It measures 24.13mm in length, 19.04mm in width, 8.38mm in thickness, and 4.54g in weight.

26) An unpatinated short flake struck from a pale grey/brown flint. It has a small striking platform and bulb of percussion, with limited flake scars on the dorsal face. The distal end and both sides have short abrupt and scaled retouch, possibly suggesting use as a small scraper. It measures 24.27mm in length, 19.34mm in width, 9.63mm in thickness, and 3.87g in weight.

27) An unpatinated and snapped squat flake, possibly a scraper, struck from a pale grey flint. It is missing the proximal end due to old breaks. The dorsal face has limited flake removal, with limited short, semi-abrupt and scaled retouch around the edges. This flake measures 26.89mm in length, 50.16mm in width, 6.98mm in thickness, and 8.97g in weight.
