The fragment is the handle terminal from a cooking vessel (with a surviving length of 77.4mm and a weight of 156.5g). The handle is of D-shaped section at the break (with a width of 28.6mm and a thickness of 12.4mm) with straight and near-parallel sides before the terminal. The handle has a rounded step down to the terminal (10.4mm deep and giving an overall depth of 20.3mm), which has a rounded end. The body of the handle has a grooved border each side and a central decorative motif with an oval groove discernible before the break, now heavily-worn but possibly depicting the letter 'O' or number '0'. The surface has a mid-green patina and is worn with a number of casting flaws discernible.2014-11-04 14:38:122014-11-04 14:41:36411Certain11PAS5458E4D40017AA71NMGWCopper alloy10627FragmentMetal detectorCircaCirca6253362548916942548941424ST5290ST5290ST59SW51.60677768-2.6945161263498578104911162013.82jpg.jpg729Post medieval cooking vessel handle fragment from a posnet or skillet All rights reserved5images/wenkedomscheit/WalesEuropean RegionUnitary AuthorityMonmouthshireUnitary AuthorityMonmouthshireCommunity51.6179-2.70579MathernReturned to finder97653
