Incomplete medieval copper alloy buckle. The bar and incomplete sides of the rectangular or trapezoidal frame are of sheet strip. Much of one side is missing and the other is broken across a perforation in which a separate outside edge would have been inserted. It would have supported a sheet roller, The sheet plate is of folded sheet and secured by a single rivet. It is slightly wider at the fold where there are notches rather than recesses for the frame. A pin hole shows this to be a buckle. Cf. examples from Meols (Egan, G. in Griffiths et al. 2007, nos. 722-5. Plate length and width 24.6 and 14 - 14.7mm. Extant length of the frame 9.5mm. Extant overall length 32mm. c.1350 - c.1450.
