Incomplete Early Saxon copper alloy Small-long brooch of Leeds 1945 cross pattee derivative type. There are concave angles between the rather crudely executed arms arms, and a transverse line bordering the upper arm and a large ring-and-dot on each of the three arms. At the top of the D-sectioned bow a rectangular panel forms facets, has a pair of transverse grooves and a notch at both ends. The bow has an engraved median line and a granular break at the lower end, with part of the bow and the footplate missing. On the reverse a single pin lug retains a small part of the iron spring. Length 29mm. Width 16mm. Weighs 4.40g. c.480 - c.500 AD.
