A copper-alloy ferrule dating to the first to third centuries AD. The ferrule comprises a forked plate resembling the letter 'V'. The forked plate is slightly curved in section and becomes more so at its apex. On its underside, circular-section lugs extend from the terminals of the 'V'. Corrosion products surround the lugs and the surface of the plate is scratched (although it is unclear whether this is ancient or modern damage). At the apex of the 'V', there extends a rectangular attachment loop. The ferrule measures 44m in length. Its maximum width is 26mm. Each fork of the 'V' measures 9mm in width. The attachment loop has a maximun width of 13mm. The ferrule weighs 15.1 grams.
