An incomplete silver cufflink of Post-Medieval date (AD 1662-1700).
The object consists of a circular pressed disk with a flat upper and concave reverse. The upper surface is decorated with two crowned hearts (Lewis form 1, type A). The reverse of the object has a central, projecting spur which would have comprised the lower aspect of the attachment loop, this is now broken and heavily abraded with iron corrosion adhering to its surface.
Cufflinks and buttons with this design are considered to have originally been produced to commemorate the marriage of Charles II to Catherine of Braganza (1662), but continued to be used as a general symbol of love and/or marriage (Lewis 2013)
