An incomplete cast copper-alloy handle fragment from a cooking vessel of Medieval date. Only the terminal end of the handle survives, the remainder now missing due to old breaks. It is rectangular in form, flat and rectangular in section, with tapering, sub-triangular terminal end. The front face has a prominent mid rib that runs the length of the fragment. All surfaces have extensive sooting. It measures 49.21mm in length, 46.99mm in width, 13.30mm in thickness (at mid rib, 7.15mm at handle), and 91.48g in weight.
This is a cast copper-alloy handle fragment similar to examples from London (e.g. Egan, 1998: no. 463). It is of probable 14th-15th century AD date.
