A cast copper alloy, open topped thimble or sewing ring dating from the Post Medieval period, about AD 1500 - 1700. It consists of a circular band with no visible seam, tapering inwards from base to apex, stamped on its outer face with six rows of regular, circular holes. The base has a projecting flange and there is a section of unmarked metal above the uppermost row of holes. It is 20.9mm in diameter at the base and 12.9mm high. It weighs 3.75gm.

A similar sewing ring is illustrated in McConnell, 1996, The Collector's Guide to Thimbles, page 22. It is attributed to the 16th century.
