A fragment of a copper-alloy scabbard slide of Miks' 'Ringkopf' type dating from the mid-second to mid-third centuries AD. Only the lower part of the slide remains, comprising a stepped hemispherical-section body which terminates in a flat, leaf-shaped plate. There is a small perforation in the leaf-shaped plate although it is unclear whether this is deliberate or the result of corrosion. The fragment measures 50mm in length and a maximum of 6mm in width. The leaf-shaped plate has a width of 12mm. It weighs 5.2g. A parallel for this slide can be found in an example from Stockstadt (Oldenstein 1976, 241 and Taf. 12; ORL B Nr. 33, 51 Nr. 34, Taf 8,3). 'Ringkopf' type scabbard slide frequently possess elaborate leaf-shaped terminals, hence the classification of this example. See for example, Miks 2007, Taf 227-229 for parallels.
