A copper-alloy single-loop buckle of medieval date.

The frame is broadly 'D'shaped in plan, with sloping surfaces, a pointed pin rest with surface groove, and offset axis bar. The plate has been doubled around this bar, creating two sub-rectangular sides, one of which is incomplete. The complete side retains two in situ copper alloy rivets, located at the corners furthest from the frame, which would have joined the two sides of the plate together. At the frame end, both plates have a sub-circular piercing, via which the now-missing pin would have been looped around the axis bar.
