A copper alloy Iron Age La Tene I type brooch dating to the period c. 400 - 200BC. The brooch features slight damage to the tip of the foot but is otherwise intact. The head of the pin consists of the typical four loops around a bar, creating the spring which continues into the pin. The body curves up at a steep angle from the spring and both widens and thickens along its length before narrowing and tapering as it curves back downwards towards the foot. The body is decorated with an incised design of a voided cross wtih rounded terminals surrounded by punched dots. The arms of the cross are short across the width of the body and long running down the length of the body. This design is surrounded by two incised concentric ovals. The bottom of the bow widens into the catchplate which is damaged along the edge. The foot curves up and back on itself from the catchplate to face the bow and tapers along its length. The tip is incised with a horizontal line and terminates in a damaged circular knop.

The brooch measures 58.69mm in length, 16.02mm maximum width, 2.55mm minimum width, 14.52mm maximum thickness, 1.22mm minimum thickness and weighs 14.41g.

The brooch has a mid-brown patina with flecks of green marking more recent damage.
