A cast copper alloy object of uncertain date and function. The object is sub-rectangular in plan and flat. The object curves in profile at one point however it is unclear whether this is due to damage or by design. The rectangular end of the object which measures 31.48mm in width contains four incomplete rivets in-situ. Two of these are at the outer corners and measure 3.12mm in diameter, and a further two 3mm beneath these measuring 3.95mm in diameter. An incised border can be seen on one edge at this end of the object. The object then flares outwards, measuring 36.77mm in width, before terminating with a break. A semi-circular void where the object has broken near one edge indicates another possible rivet hole.

The rectangular end which also terminates with a break has a fragmentary and irregular projection expanding from the rear of the object which suggests that the object had a split end. The object has a dark green patina and is damaged in places.

Due to the fragmentary nature of the object it is un-diagnostic however a book fitting has been suggested as a possible function.
