A Medieval copper alloy sewing ring, dating to the 15th century. The object is formed of a cast cylindrical tube of copper alloy which tapers from one open end to the other. The thimble has stamped rectangular pits in 4 horizontal rows. The metal has a mid-dark green patina. Casting was undertaken from the 14th century to AD 1530, when cast thimbles ceased in Nuremberg (Homes, 1988, 1). Similar to LON-DD0938, NLM-CD8589 and SOM-4C6469
The length is 18mm, the width is 10mm and the weight 81.63g.
