An Early Post-Medieval cast copper alloy dress fastener (eye clasp) dating to the sixteenth or seventeenth century. The object is of Read Class A Type 2, being oval in plan with three attachment knops and a rectangular attachment loop. The upper surface has incised decoration comprising a border of punched ring and dot motifs inside of which is a foliate design in the form of three flowers. Much of the empty space in the design has been decorated with tiny transverse grooves and very fine hatching. There is also an incised collar of three semi-circles between the plate and the loop. The reverse is flat and undecorated. The metal has a mid green patina. The object measures 37.2mm in length, 27.35mm at maximum width and weighs 4.37g.
