A fragment of a copper-alloy decorative veneer dating to the Roman period. The fragment comprises a flat strip which is rectangular in plan. The strip is marginally ribbed on its upper surface, with both ribs being notched diagonally and possesses a range of ribbed decoration, creating a series of cells. From left to right, the decoration comprises a pelta motif, two opposing pelta motifs, a lozenge and a further pelta motif. Remnants of blue enamelling are visible in various places on the upper surface of the plate. The underside of the plate is flat and plain. It measures 72mm in length, 18mm in width and 2mm in thickness.
