A complete post-Medieval cast copper-alloy star spur rowel (c. 1600-c. 1660).
This rowel is flat on one face and slightly convex on the other face. It has five evenly spaced 'fleur-de-lis' or trefoil points forming a star shape. At the centre there is a circular hole to accommodate a bar.

The object is light brown with traces of a dark green patina.


Length: 27.4mm; width: 27.1mm; thickness: 3.1mm. Weight: 3.14g.


A comparable rowel has been published and dated 1600-1660 AD (Read 2001: 66, fig. 42, ref: 516).
