A late medieval rectangular cast copper alloy buckle with a central (now partially surviving) dividing bar. Each outer edge has a series of five half round projections. The voids between these projections are spanned by two pairs of separate copper alloy wires and there are also short lengths of wire inserted into shallow grooves on the surface of each projection. A number of similar buckles have been recorded (cf WILT-B2D185, Egan and Pritchard no.443, Margeson no.154.). It has been suggested that the voids between the projection each contained an insert made from a perishable material such as bone or wood.
