A complete, Late Post Medieval, cast, lead alloy, small/medium size uniface token. Possible Powell 32-Type classification No. 5 - linear cross with angles sub-divided by half crosses or No. 20 - square chequered field (multi-lined) type. The chequer design could possibly indicate having been given for a days harrowing. The token is very worn and the centre has been pushed or dented inwards. Otherwise it has a pale grey matt surface with some pale brown corrosion. This token is likely to date to 1500-1799. Ref. Detector Finds, Gordon Bailey, Greenlight Publishing 1992, page 56-57 No. 19, 36 or 37, Finds Identified, Gordon Bailey, Greenlight Publishing 2000, page 10-15 Fig. 13, Leaden Tokens and Tallies Roman to Victorian, Edward Fletcher, Greenlight Publishing 2005, page 43-49 & 110 and Tokens and Tallies Through the Ages, Edward Fletcher, Greenlight Publishing 2003, page 28-33 (Fig. page 30).
