Early Medieval, cast copper alloy, strap end of Thomas' Class E 1, bearing a devolved version of Winchester style leaf decoration. The plate is double sided and decorated with a series of openings set each side of a central spine and set within a raised frame, which increases in depth where the diverging ribs, separating the openings, join it. The terminal consists of a cylindrical projection, 3.7mm diameter, on which is set a 5.6mm diameter dome. The upper part of the strap end, including the bifurcation, is missing. Condition good. Length 37.4mm, Width 15.6mm, Thickness 5.5mm, Mass 6.85g.

Broad strap ends like this, with Winchester style based decoration, date from the tenth century (Backhouse, Turner and Webster, 1984, 96-7, Nos. 81-84).
