Iron Age copper alloy bar shaped toggle. The toggle has a swollen central section, oval in plan and section with flat top and bottom sides due to a large hole passing through the centre from top to bottom. The central section is 11.5mm wide and 8.1mm thick. The hole is almost circular but worn to an oval shape, with more wear to one side than the other, 4.7mm wide by 5.7mm long. To either side of the central section are short circular sectioned projections ending in flattened knops. The projections are waisted (narrowed) to 5.5mm in diameter while the large circular knops are 10.3mm in diameter. It is 28.1mm long, 11.5mm wide and 10.3mm thick and weighs 10.58 grams.
Similar examples are recorded on this database including HESH-EDB833, GLO-E0E5F3 and BH-417200 which all have decorative grooves separating the sections, and date to 200 BC to AD 100.
