An unidentified copper alloy object of probable Roman date. The object is semi-circular in plan and flat in cross section. There is an area of old damage on the top edge of the semi-circle which appears to occurred when some form of attachment was broken away by an old break. The reverse of the object is undecorated. The front of the object has a raised border creating a sunken field over the surface of the object. In the centre of the field there are two raised opposing spirals which are joined together in the center. Around the spirals and in the center of each is filled in with a decayed red enamel. No parallels have yet been found for this object but it is thought that it is probably a mount of Roman date.
The mount is 32.4mm long, 15.9mm wide, 3.9mm thick and weighs 8.36 grams.
