Incomplete Roman round, gilt copper alloy plate brooch in rather abraded condition, the pin, and parts of the edge, catchplate, single pin lug and centre-boss missing. Mackreth 2011, 162, Type 3.b4. Much of the reverse is obscured by a deposit of corrosion products, rust and mineralised plant material, but tinning is visible. There are two circular zones around the centre, both with closely spaced part-circular stamped impressions (Mackreth 2011, fig. 2 no. 5). Diameter 33.5mm. c.175 - c.300 AD.
