A complete Medieval cast copper alloy bar mount, c.14th century. The mount is flat with terminal lobes at either end and a larger convex central lobe, which is hemispherical in cross-section. The central lobe is decorated with three incised horizontal lines. There are the remnants of both copper alloy rivets still in situ.
Several examples similar to this bar mount are illustrated in Egan (1991, 214, 1161) and are dated through ceramic association to 1350 to 1400 AD. Cf. also Read 2001, p23, esp. No 155.
The mount measures 13.14 mm long, 7.31 mm wide (at centre), 3.59 mm thick and weighs 0.7 g.
