Incomplete silver Thor's hammer amuletic pendant of the Late Saxon period, with part of the suspension loop missing. The rectangular-sectioned shaft thins gently towards the curved-over loop. The hammer-head is scarcely thicker than the lower end of the shaft. An incomplete example from Lincolnshire is similar but with a round-sectioned shaft (DENO-BD00C3), while that of a pendant in the Cuerdale Hoard, which was deposited in c.905-10, is octagonal (Graham-Campbell 2011, 125-6 and 227, cat. no. 1:1,115).
Height 32.6mm. Width 21.5mm. Thickness (excluding loop) 2mm. Weight 3.52g.
